New Audi A5 launched

Audi launched the A5 in 2007; it comes as a coupe, cabriolet and fastback. The A5 is based on the A4 model of saloons and estates. It was initially rumoured that the A5 will replace the A4, so far this has not happened and the A5 only has the coupe and cabriolet versions of the A4. The A4 is still available as a saloon and estate. Also part of the new Audi A5 in Surrey range are the S5 and RS5 models, very sporty and very fast cars!

The current A5 range is available with six engine choices, three of which are diesel models. The smallest petrol engine model is the 1.8 litre turbo with 170 bhp, then there is the 2.0 litre turbo with 180 bhp and the final petrol engine in the main stream line up is the 3.0 litre V6 that has 333 bhp. The diesel range is made up of two engines, a 2.0 litre with 140 bhp and a 3.0 litre with 201 or 2r42 bhp.

Earlier on in the year Audi announced that the new version of the A5 will be coming out by the end of the year. The new model features engine and transmission changes as well as some cosmetic changes. The front end has been face lifted with two pinched swage lines on the bonnet running back from the edges of the trademark grille. The lights have been redesigned, now with LEDs at the rear, and new wheel designs are available.

Engine changes have been made to the 1.8 TFSI turbocharged unit, with 168bhp and 236lb ft of torque. There is now a new engine option; a 3.0-litre, supercharged TFSI V6, which puts out 268bhp. The S5 coupe will now share the same engine as the one found in the S4, a 4.2 litre V6 with 328 bhp.
